The mission of the Unified Sports® partnership between Special Olympics Texas and Midwestern State University is to promote social inclusion in everyday life by uniting members of the campus with the community through sport and physical activities.
Recreation is a unique, appealing context that attracts and unites individuals of all backgrounds, including those with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities, and provides opportunities for participants to share meaningful social interactions. As a vehicle for enhancing an inclusive campus community, this partnership, while incorporating the values of Special Olympics Texas, Midwestern State University and the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association, stimulates a strong sense of pride and belonging on campus and throughout the world.
Athletes must be at least 18 years of age and have a current medical on file with Special Olympics Texas. Athletes must also attend a skills assessment for any team sport offered to determine the competitive level of each team. The date of each assessment will be sent through your registered email address.
