Speakers and Guests Include San Antonio Sports, H-E-B, Morgan's Wonderland and More

On Tuesday morning athletes, volunteers, families, sponsors, and LETR officers met at H-E-B Plaza to celebrate exciting news: Special Olympics Texas’ (SOTX) 2023 Summer Games will be held May 18th-21st at Morgan’s Wonderland. Additionally, It was announced that San Antonio Sports, Wells Fargo, and H-E-B are sponsoring Special Olympics Texas for the 2023 Summer Games. Statewide sponsors have given their full support to Special Olympics Texas' year-round games, including the 2023 Summer Games, and they are: LETR, Toyota, Water Fleet, H-E-B Tournament of Champions, Dick's Sporting Goods, Knights of Columbus, City of Richardson Corporate Challenge, Christi Stanley: Cherishing All Children, Texas Roadhouse, Morgan's Wonderland, United Healthcare, Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and Amerigroup Foundation.
From Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages to many more guests, the San Antonio community came out in full support today to share the news.
The 2023 Summer Games is a four-day gathering, which is free and open to the public and is the largest SOTX competition of the year, and it’s expected to attract more than a thousand athletes from all around the state of Texas. With volunteers and additional guests, the total number of visitors to the Summer Games is anticipated to be in the thousands.
Summer Games highlights will include a Champion's Lounge and a very special Opening Ceremonies (with a yet-to-be-announced surprise guest) and hosted by San Antonio's Chelsea Torres.
SOTX athletes will participate in several sports and programs during the games: athletics (track & field), cycling, gymnastics, soccer, FUNdamental Sports, Healthy programs, Unified and more. Special Olympics Texas athletes across the state have been training for their sport for weeks and months, while also participating in area-level competitions. They will be supported by more than a hundred coaches.
Several notable speakers today shared their excitement for the 2023 Summer Games. Speakers included (but were not limited to) Tim Martin, guests from San Antonio Sports, Lacey Kotzur, Gordon Hartman, Mayor Ron Nirenberg, Chief McManus, Sean Whitehead, as well as Athlete Tripp Trinidad.
