San Antonio, TX, SEPTEMBER 11, 2023 – This September, Special Olympics Texas will host an inspirational morning to celebrate Special Olympic athletes’ achievements and successes at the Breakfast with Champions. The San Antonio celebration raises awareness and funds for those with intellectual disabilities. The Special Olympics Breakfast with Champions will take place September 29, 2023 at Rosenberg Skyroom at UIW, 847 E Hildebrand Ave San Antonio TX 78212. Donations from the event will support Special Olympic athletes’ participation in programs such as Unified Champion Schools, athletic events, access to health care and more.
Funds raised help athletes like Allen Puckett. Allen has been an SOTX athlete for 33 years and always had a love for sports. Allen started his journey with the Special Olympics in middle school, and since then has joined athlete leadership, become a global messenger, and has competed in world games. Allen participates in many events such as HEB Tournament of Champions and Tip A Cop. Allen loves basketball, bowling, and the friends he has made during his time as an athlete. When he is not competing, he is a volunteer track manager for the University of Incarnate Word. Allen is excited to tell of his achievements and life during Breakfast with Champions this year.
“Special Olympics athletes are an inspiration to us all, and the Special Olympics are deeply deserving of community support,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg, San Antonio. “These athletes learn that the journey is more important than winning, but there is no doubt that stepping forward to support these exceptional athletes is a winning move.”
The San Antonio community is invited to participate in the event, which will feature Special Olympic speakers, and our Master of Ceremonies KENS 5, Audrey Castoreno and Former NBA Spur, Jaren Jackson Sr. Registration is free and can be found on our https://givebutter.com/BWCSA
