Partnership between United Healthcare and Special Olympics Texas

Partnership between United Healthcare and Special Olympics Texas

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : November 12, 2020

11/12/2020 – With COVID-19 impacting typical opportunities for our athletes, we are thankful for the support from United Healthcare.  Their support helps Special Olympics Texas run the virtual S.O. Connected program.

In order to prioritize the health of our community, Special Olympics Texas unveiled a new online platform for our athletes called S.O. Connected earlier this year. Through this virtual platform, we have been able to continue to provide opportunities for our athletes to continue to engage with our community while at home.

However, this would not have been possible without support from our supporters. With a sponsorship from United Healthcare, our S.O. Connected program experienced a 3000% uptake in engagement from when we first started the program and we have consistently been able to maintain our engagement with over 20,000 minutes of content engagement per month.

“United Healthcare has been an amazing partner for Special Olympics Texas during this difficult time,” said Corporate Relations Director Nia Simmons. “By working with United Healthcare, we have been able to make it possible for our athletes to re-engage with society-virtually. With this successful final quarter of 2020, we have a positive outlook on the year ahead.”

With our mission to build a community that focuses on inclusion and connectedness, we appreciate the flexibility of our organization to quickly transition to continue to provide opportunities for our fellow athletes.
