Lakeway, Texas - Special Olympics Texas Winter Games will be held in Bee Cave and Lakeway on February 18th-20th, 2022. Competition and events will be held the 18th and 19th at various locations around the two cities (click here for the schedule of events with locations). In an effort to show their support, the NFL Alumni Association will host a Sports Legends Bowling Tournament the following Sunday, February 20th, to raise funds to cover the costs of the Winter Games.
The tournament will begin at 7:00 pm at High5 Bowling in Lakeway, Texas. The event will host star NFL alumni such as Doug English, Johnny Walker, Gus Hollomon, Rodrick Walker, MJ McFarland, Lee McCormick, along with many more. These former athletes have committed to participating in the event and actively showing their support for the Winter Games. The competition has also secured a significant number of sponsors to help fund the tournament, including; Hill Country Galleria, Broadway Bank, Primrose Schools, Planwise Financial Group, Nitro Swimming, Spanish Oaks, and several more.
Special Olympics Texas Winter Games is a statewide competition offering six different sports, including two new additions: Floorball and FUNdamental Sports. The entire weekend is free and open to the public and will be SOTX’s first large-scale event since the COVID-19 pandemic. The Winter Games are expected to attract thousands of athletes, Unified partners, families, and volunteers from all around the state of Texas.
