Maverick Fitness Hosts Special Olympic Texas Athletes During 90-Minute Fundraiser Class to Benefit Special Olympics Texas

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : August 03, 2021

Dallas, Texas – August 3, 2021  –  Maverick Fitness Holdings, who owns 34 Orangetheory® Fitness studios in North Texas, hosted Special Olympics Texas athletes during an exclusive 90-minute class at their North Texas studios on July 17, 2021. Orangetheory members paid $25 to participate in the class with all proceeds going to Special Olympics Texas. Normal classes at Orangetheory are 60 minutes so this class was challenging for all. Total raised for the day was over $37,000 with over 700 members donating across the region. Some members chose to donate even if they could not make it to the class. Each studio competed with others in their territory to see who could raise the most money. Each winner received a $250 employee appreciation cash prize to use for their studio staff.

“We are extremely excited to have partnered with Special Olympics for such an incredible community and health focused weekend. Throughout the weekend, we watched Special Olympic athletes of all levels accomplish personal bests and break through barriers. We are privileged to be a part of these athletes’ journey and look forward to our continued partnership.”, says Michael Piermarini, Chief Product Officer, Maverick Fitness Holdings.

Since the beginning of 2020 Orangetheory Fitness has continued to expand their partnership and support of Special Olympics Texas and their athletes. What started as a way for Orangetheory employees to get involved in their local community by volunteering at different events transformed during the Pandemic as a way to keep Special Olympics athletes across the state engaged in social activities and focused on health and wellness during an extremely difficult time for everyone.

Now, in 2021, as more in-person activities are beginning to take place again, Orangetheory has expanded their partnership with Special Olympics Texas by doing more for the athletes and getting Orangetheory members involved across the entire Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

“We could not be more grateful for this new partnership and the impact Orangetheory has made in the lives of our athletes across the entire state. Our motto at Special Olympics, globally, is ‘the revolution is inclusion’ - Orangetheory Fitness has exemplified that by bringing their fitness, their coaches, their members, and our athletes together to build relationships that show understanding and respect. We hope to continue building on this relationship for years to come.", says Dalton Hill, Associate Executive Director-North Region.

Maverick Fitness, who owns 34 Orangetheory® Fitness studios in North Texas, makes it a priority to give back to the communities they serve. In 2018, Maverick Fitness created OrangeLove, their non-profit initiative where one charity is chosen bi-monthly to be the recipient of a cash donation. Orangetheory Fitness members are encouraged at the end of each class to check in on social media, tagging the charity. Maverick Fitness then donates up to $5,000 to the charity of choice.

In addition, Maverick Fitness Executive office is dedicated to doing quarterly Days of Service working with local non-profits such as Frisco Family Services and Mansfield Mission as well as other programs such as offering free monthly classes for Phoenix House at various studios in North Texas.

Orangetheory Fitness has always been a leader in the fitness industry when it comes to cleaning their studios and encouraging members and staff to wipe down surfaces once they are finished using them. Maverick Fitness uses the NASA-Based ActivePure Technology® air purifying system in their North Texas studios. The system rapidly eliminates 99.9% of airborne SARS-CoV-2 virus present in the air and on hard surfaces. Staff cleans all surfaces and floors between classes following all CDC Guidelines and safety precautions.

Headquartered in Frisco, TX, Maverick is the second-largest franchisee for Orangetheory® Fitness, with 34 studios, over 18,000 members.
