Laredo Fire Truck Pull to Benefit Special Olympics Texas on
July 20th
City of Laredo and Laredo Police and Fire Departments to host annual Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraiser to support more than 2,000 local SOTX athletes.

LAREDO – The Laredo community is asked to pull together for a purpose. On Saturday, July 20th 2019, the Laredo Prodigy Sports will host the annual Fire Truck Pull at Uni-Trade Stadium in an effort to raise money to fund Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) programming and training for Laredo-area children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Check-in and walk-up registration begins at 1:00 p.m. The first pull is slated for 2:15 p.m.  Registration can be completed in advance online here.

The Fire Truck Pull requires teams of 12 friends, family members and colleagues to put their biceps and working together to pull an actual 55,000-pound Laredo fire truck for 75 feet. The challenge wraps up with an awards ceremony for the Fastest Team.

The entry fee is $25 per person or $240 per team (12 people). If there are fewer than 12 on a team, please indicate so that “fill-ins” can be found.  Each team must have at least one female member. A t-shirt will be provided to all registered participants.

This event operates under the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), which is SOTX’s largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. Through efforts like the Fire Truck Pull, Laredo Police and Fire Departments helped Texas LETR raise over $1.4 million in 2017 to support more than 58,300 athletes across the state.
