SOTX Awarded $7,500 Grant from Coastal Bend Community Foundation

Since 2002, the Coastal Bend Community Foundation has contributed $106,100 to SOTX to support athletes in Corpus Christi.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –The Coastal Bend Community Foundation has awarded Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) a $7,500 grant to support athletes in the Corpus Christi area. The grant funds will provide sports programming and training for 50 children and adults with intellectual disabilities from the Corpus Christi area in 2017. Since 2002, the foundation has contributed $106,100 to SOTX, helping the organization continue programming for athletes in the Aransas, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio counties. 

The Coastal Bend Community Foundation awards grants annually through a competitive application and review process. Since 1981, the foundation has awarded grants to nonprofit organizations in the Coastal Bend area that have a positive impact on their community. 

SOTX offers sports competition and training in 22 Olympic-style sports for 58,333 athletes across the Lone Star State. The nonprofit organization also offers other types of programming such as its Young Athletes Program, Motor Activities Training Program, Unified Champion Schools and Healthy Athletes.
