Volunteer Shifts Now Open for 2016 Special Olympics Texas Summer Games in Arlington

It will take more than 3,750 people to assist with running the organization’s largest annual statewide event from May 26-29.

AUSTIN – Volunteer registration for Special Olympics Texas’ largest annual statewide competition, Summer Games, is now open. The event, now in its 47th year, will feature 3,000-plus athletes with intellectual disabilities competing in one of seven sports from May 26-29 on the campus of The University of Texas at Arlington and at other nearby venues. It will take more 3,750 volunteers to run seven competitions and assist in many other capacities. Those interested and able to provide support can sign up at www.sotx.org/summergames and click the ‘Volunteer’ tab

During the competition weekend, athletes will compete in Track & Field, Basketball, Cycling, Gymnastics, Soccer, or Tennis.
