'Tis the season for an icy plunge in Galveston

Get to freezin’ for a reason!  Sign up for the Gulf Coast area’s most frigid fundraiser of the year on January 18.  Special Olympics Texas is calling on everyone cool enough to plunge for proceeds at its 3rd Annual Polar Plunge - a chilly and entertaining event where the brave raise pledges by jumping into frrreezing cold water.   

The first jittery jump is at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart Beach in Galveston. The cost to plunge is $60 for adults and $30 for children under 18 years old.  All registered plungers will get a commemorative t-shirt, duffel bag, knit cap or one of the many other available incentives, based on their plunge level. 


The event will wrap with an awards ceremony for Most Money Raised by an individual and team, as well as The Coveted Silver Plunger prize for Best Costume – so dress to impress!

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 44,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
