Leap into the New Year and sign up for Special Olympics Texas’ annual Polar Plunge in Wichita Falls. The frostiest fundraiser of the year is on February 15 and SOTX is calling on everyone cool enough to plunge for proceeds. The event requires participants to raise pledges by jumping into frrrreezing cold water.
Register today to take the plunge, individually or with a team. The first plunge is at 10:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express Pool. The cost to plunge is $60 for adults and $30 for children under 18 years old. All registered plungers will get a commemorative t-shirt, duffle bag, knit cap or one of the many other available incentives, based on their plunge level.
The Best Costume award winner will receive the coveted Silver Plunger award – so dress to impress! Proceeds support more than 700 athletes in the North Texas area. About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics’ largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and has grown to become one of the largest in the nation. In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX. The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 44,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
