South Padre Island Welcomes Frosty Fundraiser

Look out! Here comes the most freezing-est fundraiser in town! SOTX is calling on everyone brrrave enough to take the chilly challenge at its annual Polar Plunge, February 1, in South Padre Island.  The Polar Plunge is a cool event that requires participants to raise funds by jumping into ice cold water.

The first frigid plunge is at 10:00 a.m. at Clayton’s Beach Bar and Grill, 6900 Padre Blvd.  The event will wrap with an awards ceremony and lunch.  The cost to take a daring dip is $60 for adults and $30 for children under 18 years old.  Anyone who raises more than their required plunge fee will get a blanket, duffle bag, knit cap or one of the many other available incentives, based on their plunge level.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve close to 44,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
