Leap Down Tall Buildings for SOTX!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Unleash your inner superhero by rappelling down the 22-story Milam Building on the Riverwalk on Saturday, October 19, and raising funds for Special Olympics Texas.  Over the Edge, presented by ClearChannel Outdoor, is an unforgettable Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) event that involves participants raising a minimum of $1,000 to rappel in front of an awe-struck crowd of supporters.

The first brave supporter will be handed the rope to rappel at 8:00 a.m., with participants going over the edge throughout the entire day.  Celebrity rappellers include Special Olympics Texas athletes.  MEDIA ONLY: There will be limited opportunities for selected members of the media to go Over the Edge! For more information about going Over the Edge as a member of the media, please contact Tela Mange (tmange@sotx.org) at 512.491.2928.

Participants should be 18 years or older by the day of the event, and weigh between 110 to 300 lbs. No previous rappelling experience is required. Members of surrounding area SWAT Teams will be there to assist you. Each participant agrees to raise a minimum of $1,000.  Rappel spots are limited so register early.

Every friend, family or co-worker donating $50 to help send participants Over the Edge will be entered for a chance to win two roundtrip BusinessFirst tickets on United Airlines, valued at $6,500.  To learn more or to register to go Over the Edge, visit www.sotx.org/over-the-edge.

Brave Texans have the opportunity to raise enough money to rappel off buildings in three or four Texas cities in a four-week period. The event kicks off at the historic Milam Building on the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio on October 19; and then moves on to the 17-story Hyatt Regency Austin Downtown, on the Lake on October 26; heads to the 15-story Bank Tower at Oak Cliff in Dallas on November 9; and ends at the 20-story Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Houston on November 16.
