Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) – Heart of Texas area is rounding up its competitors for a Bocce Competition on September 28.  The competition kicks off with Opening Ceremonies at 9:00 a.m. and wraps at 2:00 p.m. at the Baylor University Intramural Field. 

September 28 also marks the world’s fourth Eunice Kennedy Shriver (EKS) Day, named in honor of the founder of the Special Olympics movement!  EKS Day is a celebration of Shriver’s life and a global challenge for people to promote inclusion, acceptance and unity for and with people with intellectual disabilities.  On EKS Day, Special Olympics Texas will present a proclamation from Governor Rick Perry in honor of Eunice Kennedy Shriver and her lifetime commitment to Special Olympics.  Also, SOTX asks that all event attendees wear green in solidarity.  In the EKS logo, the color green represents growth and signifies Special Olympics’ ever-growing movement and the growing number of lives that it has changed.
