Got brawn? Think you’re tough? Then put your strength and stamina to the test at the annual Fire Truck Pull challenge, hosted by the San Antonio Fire Department, on October 12. Teams of 12 people will give their biceps and triceps the ultimate workout by pulling an actual 66,000 pound fire truck for 75 feet!
The Fire Truck Pull, sponsored by Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) and the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), is free to attend and open to the public. Opening Ceremonies is at 9:00 a.m., followed by the first pull at 9:15 a.m. at the San Antonio Fire Training Academy, 300 South Callaghan.
The entry fee is $600 per team of 12 and $50 for individual competitors. Awards will be presented for the Fastest Team Pull and Top Fundraising Team. For more information, contact Anna Twitty (atwitty@sotx.org) at 210.530.9898. Click here to sign up.
About the Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation. In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX. The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 44,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
