Dine and Donate with Cops and Firefighters

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Your local cops and firefighters are exchanging their handcuffs and hoses for aprons this week.  They will serve up support at Joe’s Crab Shack on June 6 during the inaugural Tip A Cop/Tip A Firefighter event.  During the tasty fundraiser, Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) members will work the dinner shift for tips to later donate to Special Olympics Texas – South Texas area athletes.

LETR members will greet and serve patrons from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., collecting donations to support the movement.  Corpus Christi police officers will serve and refill drinks at the Joe’s Crab Shack located at 5025 S. Padre Island Drive; firefighters will man the 444 N. Shoreline Blvd location.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 44,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
