Join the Movement! Amplify Austin

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


Get ready to Amplify Austin! Beginning at 7:00 p.m. on March 4, you can help raise funds for and awareness of Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) by telling our story. Amplify Austin is a day of giving and call to action to celebrate philanthropy and encourage the city of Austin to give back. The goal is simple: help us increase support for SOTX - Central Texas area by spreading the word about the movement. Come out to our Amplify Austin events, meet our awesome athletes and discover how important Special Olympics Texas is to the Austin community.

March 4, 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. - Kick Off Event at the Long Center

o   Athletes will wear SOTX shirts and superhero masks and hand out information about SOTX and how people can donate;

o   Law Enforcement Torch Run officers will be there to support the athletes;

o   There will be great music, tasty snacks, cocktails and an all-around good time.

March 5, 12:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Street Solicitation at Microsoft Store

o   Enjoy some great tunes, Super Special Olympics Texas cookies and coffee, and challenge our athletes to a hula hoop contest and dancing competition with one of the Kinects in the Microsoft store

March 5, 5:00 p.m.  – 7:30 p.m. - Closing Event at Dick’s Sporting Goods

o   “Say cheese” at our photo booth and have your picture taken with local celebrities and SOTX athletes;

o   Celebrities include Austin and Round Rock police chiefs and the Travis County Sheriff;

o   Enter our Hula Hoop contest and lawn bowling for a chance to win some great SOTX prizes;

o   Enjoy free samples from Raising Cane’s and Coca-Cola Refreshments

The success of Amplify Austin for Special Olympics will depend on the collective efforts of a unique group of partners and their participation.
