Join SOTX in Freezin' for a Reason

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Freeze the day and sign up for the coolest fundraiser in town and support Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) athletes in the Greater Houston and Heart of East Texas areas. SOTX invites you to register for its annual Polar Plunge event on February 16 in Spring. The Plunge requires participants to raise pledges by taking a chilly dip in ice cold water.

The first plunge is set for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at SplashTown. Registration is $60 per adult and $30 for children under 18 years old.  All registered plungers will receive a knit cap, blanket, duffle bag or one of the many other available incentives, based on their plunge level. The event will wrap with an awards ceremony for the individual and team raising the most money and best costume. Don’t wanna plunge? Stay supportive, and warm, in the Chicken Coop while your friends and family members plunge for proceeds.

Register now or contact Judy Luquette (jluquette@sotx.org) at 713.290.0049 or Rachell Baldwin (rbaldwin@sotx.org) at 936.756.6906 for more information.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics’ largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and has grown to become one of the largest in the nation. In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX. The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 44,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
