Volunteer Spotlight - Lucy Gutierrez

Lucy K. Gutierrez is an ideal key volunteer full of life and full of energy who wears many hats in our organization. Lucy serves as an Area Games Committee Member, oversees the area awards venue and coordinates medical coverage at all area competitions. She also currently serves as an Area Sports Management Team Member.

Her role of volunteer extends beyond competition. She also serves as the Athlete Leadership Program Coordinator and is also the facilitator at United ISD Cherish Center for Meet in the Middle.  She has volunteered at all the sports we offer. She is a key volunteer in every sense of the word.

Lucy is a Special Education Teacher by profession. She enjoys working with people with special needs and expresses her love through her occupation and selfless volunteer work. When you ask, she will share the following with you: “All special students can learn no matter how challenging they are, be patient and you will see the success in their smiles.”

She is an exceptional volunteer, and the Area 21 director relies  on her as a key part of many area committees. Thank you, Lucy, for all your hard work and the tireless energy you have given to our Special Olympics Texas athletes.
