Give a Lot to a Cop on Top!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

If you spot a cop on top of The Donut Stop, be sure to give a lot.  It’s not part of a stakeout, it’s a Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) fundraiser for Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) – Panhandle area.

LETR officers will camp out on the roof of The Donut Stop, located at 5815 I-40 West, from 5:30 p.m. on September 7 through 12:00 p.m. on September 9, to collect money for and raise awareness of SOTX.  During the three-day event, patrons and passers-by will be able to drop off donations to help support area athletes.

Throughout the Cops on Top weekend, you can also surrender donations at The Donut Stops located at 3369 Bell Street, 1905 South Georgia Street, 4300 South Coulter Street and 3605 West 45th Avenue.  For more details or to learn about volunteer opportunities in the Panhandle area, contact Megan Spivey (mspivey@sotx.org) at 806.374.7171.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 44,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
