FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Derek Skipworth has been volunteering with Special Olympics Texas for the past two years through his role on the committee for the Ragin Cajun Golf Tournament held in Canyon, Texas. Through his interactions with Special Olympics Texas athletes on the golf course on the day he has been inspired to do more with the organization.
One of his highlights is watching a group of athletes hit a tee shot on a hole for golfers that are playing in the tournament.
“To see the excitement each athlete has when a drive is hit well and helps the team is priceless. Helping the athletes realize and complete their dream of playing sports is such an awesome feeling. I enjoy every minute of the golf tournament and know that the money is going to fund an enormous smile that might not have been possible without the help of Special Olympics,” says Derek.
With Derek’s help as a committee member and volunteer he’s able to help make those dreams and smiles possible for many of our athletes. That’s why we have chosen to highlight Derek Skipworth in the volunteer spotlight.
