Exchanging handcuffs for aprons, local cops will serve you at Joe’s Crab Shack on March 30 for the statewide Tip a Cop event.  During the fundraiser, highway patrol troopers, police officers, sheriff’s deputies and other Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) members will work the dinner shift for tips to support Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) – San Antonio area athletes.

Participating restaurants in the San Antonio area are the Joe’s Crab Shacks located at 12485 IH 10 West, 255 E. Basse Road #1400, 212 College Street and 4111 NW Loop 410.  LETR members will greet and serve patrons from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., collecting donations to support the movement.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 40,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
