Reel in Funds for SOTX

Anglers of all ages are headed to the Concho Valley for the 16th annual Bassin’ Bunch Fishing Tournament.  They’re hoping to hook the big one, while supporting competitors of Special Olympics Texas (SOTX). 

The fundraiser is from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on March 24 at O.H. Ivie Lake at the Kennedy Park Marina.  Contestants can pre-register online anytime at www.bassinbunchmidland.com, in person on March 23 at the Ballinger Community Center from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. or the day of the tournament from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. at the lake.  All contestants will get a free pancake dinner on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Ballinger Community Center and the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) committee will serve hamburgers and hotdogs at weigh-in.  

Bassin’ Bunch entry fees are $75 per person at check-in; the entry fee for kids is $20.  Proceeds go to SOTX – Permian Basin/Big Bend area athletes and the LETR.  For more information, contact Jim Dixon at 432.559.9656.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 40,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
