Hi, I'm Joey Sternberg and I'm celebrating my bar mitzvah on June 3, 2017. I have been preparing and studying for this special occasion for a year and am ready to celebrate with all of you! One of the many responsibilities I have to do to be ready for my bar mitzvah is a mitzvah project. I've decided to help raise money for Special Olympics Texas.

I chose this particular organization for several reasons. The first reason is I love playing basketball and being active. I have come to appreciate how fortunate I am to be a healthy teenager who is able to play on a team and in a competitive league. I have learned a lot of important life lessons from playing on a team and know that these experiences will help me as I grow and mature into a young man. I also realize how many people of all ages do not get the opportunities that been given to me. Therefore, I want to help make a difference for those athletes who have physical challenges or have special needs so they too, can gain all of the benefits of being athletic.

The second reason I chose this organization is to show support for Jared Sandler. Although Jared is not officially part of my family (at least not yet) he has become a good friend of mine and is someone I can talk sports with, get advice from and look up to as a successful young adult. I have watched Jared work tirelessly to help others because, like me, he is passionate about sports and passionate about creating opportunities for those interested in having an outlet to play. It's been inspiring to watch Jared take time out of his busy schedule to work with Special Olympics Texas and I am excited to be able to play a small part. This December, Jared will host the first annual Swinging Fore a Cause benefitting Special Olympics Texas and I am looking forward to volunteering at the event working with Jared to make sure it's a successful event.

With that being said, I am asking for you to take a minute and click on the link below to help me raise money and awareness for this incredible organization leading up to the event on December 3rd.

Thank you for your time, Joey
