What is the Law Enforcement Torch Run?
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics was started in 1981 by Wichita, Kansas Police Chief Richard LaMunyon, and is Special Olympics’ largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle in the world. Law enforcement officers throughout the world carry the "Flame of Hope" through the streets of their communities and deliver it to their local, state, national or world Special Olympics Games.
Special Olympics Texas will be hosting the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Area 2 on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. There will be volunteer opportunities available in competitions, Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Local Run, Final Leg Run and be part of our Area Games, Winter and State Games.
Additional ways to support our athletes include participation in Tip-A-Cop, The Polar Plunge, Fire Truck Pulls and much more.
