Special Olympics Texas Rio Grande Valley Area will host the 2022 Bocce Competition on Saturday, October 1, 2022! The Area Bocce Competition will be taken place at the Festival Grounds at HEB Park, in Edinburg, this year. As for all Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) events, we will begin with the Opening Ceremonies at 9:00 AM, followed by competition at 9:45 AM.

We encourage the community to come out and cheer on our athletes as they compete in this year's competition. Special Olympics Texas events are open to the public and we encourage the attendance of families, volunteers, community partners, and spectators!

Athlete Eligibility/Safety: All athletes must have a current Athlete Medical on file with the SOTX RGV office before they can participate in any practices. If your athletes are missing either of these documents they ineligible to participate in the event.

Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering for this day of event, you may email the RGV Area Volunteer Coordinator, cowboysma_lou@yahoo.com, to request volunteer information or refer to 'Register' icon on the right hand panel. Volunteers that have signed up for any events are to arrive and check-in at the Volunteer Tent at the venue.

SOTX Covid-19 Statement:

Indoor activities, with several safety measures in place, are permitted at Special Olympics Texas.

The Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) Mitigation Committee has made the decision to additionally permit indoor in-person SOTX activities (indoor sports, fundraisers, LETR events, etc.) with several safety modifications in place.  All safety measures found on our training page are required for indoor activities.

We strongly encourage all participants to be fully vaccinated.

In addition to our strong recommendation of the vaccine, all participants must complete the Covid-19 Waiver as well as Athletes having a current Medical on file before their return to activities.

When not in the field of play, all participants (including spectators and family members) must wear a mask and practice social distancing.  High fives and other contact mannerisms should be avoided.  Additionally, the Mitigation Committee and Regional Executive Directors can pause upcoming activities at any time if they feel a certain area may have an unusually unsafe uprise in local COVID-19 cases.

If any members of a delegation who participated in SOTX practices and/or events test positive for Covid-19, the delegation must quarantine for 14 days before returning to SOTX activities.  Additionally, the individual(s) who tested positive must have a negative test result before returning to SOTX activities.
