Student-athletes from Midwestern State University and Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) athletes will join forces on the gridiron. Superstars Bowl on Saturday, October 19th at the MSU Softball Field.
The game will be played using an 11 vs. 11 format with each team consisting of 7 SOTX athletes and 4 Midwestern State players from basketball, football, soccer and tennis.
For SOTX athletes, this game will have a Super Bowl feel to it. Not only will they get to share the field with MSU students, they will also wear replica MSU jerseys with their own last name on the back and will get to hear their name called as they run out of the tunnel with the MSU students. SOTX athletes will cheer alongside MSU cheerleaders and will receive pompons, megaphones, hairbows for the girls and sweatbands for the guys and a T-shirt.
Students from across campus will also be taking part. From the MSU band, to MSU choir students singing the National Anthem to the Special Ed majors serving as the planning committee, to Fraternity and Sororities making signs and banners to Caribbean students playing a drum ensemble during halftime.
