General Information

Special Olympics Texas - Area 13 will host their 2023 Equestrian Competition on Saturday March 4, 2023 at Ride on Center for Kids (ROCK) in Georgetown, Texas.  
Show Patterns are listed below!

This event will begin with Opening Ceremonies at 8:30AM, followed by competition starting around  9:00am! 
Exact schedule of Events will be available closer to the competition. 

​We encourage the community to come out and cheer on our athletes as they compete in this year's competition. Special Olympics Texas events are open to the public and we encourage the attendance of families, volunteers, community partners, and spectators! 


Competition Weather Plan:
In the event of thunder and lighting within 8 miles of ROCK Ride on Center for Kids, the competition will be paused until lighting is more than 8 miles away. If there is a storm that will last longer than one hour, ROCK along with the SOTX Program Director will take the next steps to determine whether the competition will be postponed or canceled. 

Athlete Safety:  
All Athletes must have a current Athlete Medical & Communicable Disease Waiver on file with the Area SOTX office, before they can participate in any practices. If your Athletes are missing either of these documents they will not be able to participate in the event.

• Medicals & Comm. Diseases Waivers Due: January 20, 2023 
• Registration Entry Deadline: January 27, 2023 
• Last Date for ADDS: February 13, 2023* 
  • *NO "ADDS" WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE, DUE TO IT BEING WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF COMPETITION DATE.

Ride on Center for Kids (ROCK) Competition Venue Facility Rules:

To be Noted: Replacement and spare tack will not be provided by ROCK 

Do  

• Provide Coggins and health certificate for all horses coming onto property 
• Be prepared to trailer tie  
• Use happy hands  
• Helmets warn by all mounted riders  
• Bring your own tack and grooming tools  
• Replacement and spare tack will not be provided by ROCK 
• Bring your own hay and water buckets   
• We will have a water bucket fill station for horses   
• Park in designated locations   
• Clean up after your horses  
• Lunge in round pens  
• Use a red ribbon for horses needing more personal space  
• Bring folding chairs – seating is limited  
• Bring money for food and snacks   
• Bring water for personal use (water bottles available for purchase)   
• Always supervise your team and horses  
• Place your horse’s manure in designated dumpster 

DO NOT:

• Use our stalls  
• No clapping  
• No standing on fences  
• No Tabaco products  
• No alcohol   
• No horses down by our pastures  
  • No standing and waiting in the warm-up arena – warm up arena needs to be clear for those actually doing a warm-up  
• No tying horses in warm-up arena   
• No lunging in the warm-up arena  
• No riding in round pens  
• No horses in wash stall  
• No running   
• Do not leave a rider unattended  
• No loud music played on speakers  
• No wandering around the facility or off-limits areas    
• Block driveways, roads, or gates with vehicles or trailers  
• Do not leave riders unattended or lose outside of designated riding areas
