SOTX: Greater Dallas - Area 10
Bocce & Regional Softball Competition 2019
The event is hosted by the City of Farmer's Branch and will be held at Oran Good Park. Volunteers are needed for both competitions.
(NO PETS ALLOWED: Service animals are the only type of animals allowed at Special Olympics Texas Competitions. Individuals with pets will be asked to leave or take the animal off the premises for the safety of our athletes and spectators.)
Volunteer Shifts / Check-In:
Bocce: Report to Field 1
Shift 1: 7:30am - 12:30pm
Shift 2: 12:00pm - 5:00pm
Softball: Report to near concessions between Fields 3-6
Shift 1: 8:00am - 12:00 pm
Shift 2: 12:00pm - 3:30 pm
Merchandise Sales: Report near concessions between Fields 3-6
10am - 3pm
Times include checkin & training
VOLUNTEER ROLES & EXPECTATIONS:
Needs will vary according to sport, we expect volunteers to be flexible to meet our competition needs. Roles will include...
Court Monitors - Oversee the Bocce matches and Softball Games making sure the rules are followed and the scoring is correct.
Court Assistants - Assist the court monitors in the above.
Individual Skills - Assist with setup and competition for Softball individual skills competition
Scorebook/Scoreboard Keeper Assistant
Awards Escorts-take athletes from the holding area (bleachers) to wait before they are awarded
Awards Assistant-Assist with giving out medals and ribbons; must be over 15 years of age or older
Fans In Stands-volunteers that are not old enough to volunteer alone; vounteers 15+ years can volunteer alone; however, the younger volunteers must come supervised with a 4:1 (4 children supervised by 1 adult); prior to the competition you can make posters and cheer for the athletes as they compete. Call the Area 10 Office for Team Names!
