It's with great sadness that we let everyone in our Special Olympics Texas family know that our great friend and longtime Law Enforcement Torch Run volunteer Brad Freis has passed away. Retired from Addison PD Brad was a member of the Presidents Advisory Council, and was still a key leader in the Torch Run in DFW and across the state and nation. He was a member of the Texas Law Enforcement Torch Run Hall of Fame, and represented Texas at a World Games Final Leg and helped support the Bank of America Unified Relay Across America. In the past few years Brad was also an instrumental leader in the Joe Avezzano Golf Tournament, helped bring the Norma's Tip a Cop event to SOTX, participated in Over the Edge, Dunkin Donuts events, and in the early years had an amazing Jail and Bail event, just to mention a few.
I could go on and on, but everyone that knew Brad was always amazed at his passion for our athletes. Our athletes never had a better friend than Brad Freis. He will be greatly missed.
I hope that we all can help remember Brad in whatever ways possible and to let our entire organization know of his tremendous contributions, not only to Special Olympics Texas, but to the world.
The services for Brad Freis are as follows:
Rosary service Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service Monday at 3:30 p.m.
