Kiki Stanis was named the winner of SOTX’s Best Shot Photo Contest for the week of Aug. 8, which required participants to submit images for the Best LETR Photo category.

Stanis’ photo (pictured right) was taken at this year’s Area 4 Spring Games Opening Ceremony. It features SOTX athlete Josh Walker running the Flame of Hope with Law Enforcement Torch Run member Deputy Cristian Garcia, Harris County Constable, Pct. 4 before passing the torch to another athlete and LETR member.

Stanis told SOTX that Walker took running with the Deputy Garcia very serious. He loves to show his support and team spirit in any way that he can.

Walker has participated with SOTX through the Goose Creek Delegation for 12 years. Golf, Softball, Basketball, Table Tennis and Bowling are just a handful of the many sports he competes in. In 2014, he went to USA Games in New Jersey, where he represented Team Texas in Soccer.

For Stanis, he involvement with Special Olympics Texas through the Goose Creek delegation has become a big part of her life as well.

“It all started with coming with our Head of Delegation, Stacy Saxon to a Bocce Tournament, and since that time I have been hooked,” Stanis said. “There is nothing like Special Olympics Texas.”
