Brenda Alvarez, 17, became involved with Special Olympics Texas years ago when she was in elementary school and is still an active participant as a junior at LBJ High School in the Laredo area.

She participates in bowling and track and field, with a particular interest in track and field.

Brenda’s proudest SOTX moment came last year when she turned in her personal-best time in the 100-meter run to win first place for the event.

Aside from bowling and running, Brenda also enjoys dancing, playing soccer and throwing the softball. In her free time she also loves to play volleyball and go bike riding with neighbors and friends.

Brenda is very athletic, but she also loves to eat hamburgers and watch Michael Myers movies. Some of her other favorite things include “Batman”, Julian Alvarez and visiting San Antonio.

She has won several medals, but Brenda likes that SOTX has helped her to be prepared and always have energy.
