Special Olympics is now an official partner of Charity Miles, a smart phone app that tracks exercise mileage and allows users to raise money for different causes. The app is free and simple to use. Users just launch the app, choose Special Olympics as their preferred charity and either walk, run or cycle. Special Olympics - and Special Olympics Texas - will then earn money for every mile logged. Walkers and runners earn 25¢ per mile; cyclists earn 10¢ per mile.
“By working together, we can all become sponsored athletes…just like the pros, but for charity,” said Charity Miles Founder, Gene Gurkoff. “…And there are a lot more of us than there are pro athletes. So, just imagine how we can change the world.” The Charity Miles app, iPhone and Android compatible, is GPS-enabled and easy to use. Users can track their time, mileage and funds raised for their favorite causes.
