Exchanging Handcuffs for Aprons - Tip a Cop

Law Enforcement Torch Runners are always ready to lend a hand for Special Olympics Texas athletes whether it's plunging into frozen waters or donning an apron to collect tips for athletes.  On March 13 local law enforcement agents will be serving you up in style at various Joe's Crab Shacks for our statewide Tip a Cop fundraiser.

During the fundraiser, highway patrol troopers, police officers, sheriff’s deputies and other Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) members will work the dinner shift for tips to support Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) athletes.

Throughout the night a friendly LETR member will be greeting you at your table, refilling your drinks and asking for your support.  It's just one of the many ways that they help give back to the local community and SOTX athletes in their area.

Last year our statewide Tip a Cop fundraiser raised close to $50,000 dollars for Specail Olympics Texas.  Scare yourself into having a great time this Friday the 13th with local law enforcement officers and help us beat last year's record amount.

Below is a list of various Joe's Crab Shacks throughout the state that will be hosting a Tip a Cop event.   

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 36,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
