The Division III school is one of many universities that participate in the Special Olympics partnership which provides volunteer opportunities for their student-athletes by giving back with their Athletes-for-Athletes program. The program pairs the school's student-athletes with Special Olympics Texas athletes at games or clinics.  This past year, Concordia Sports Information Director, Matt Chmura volunteered to be the competition director for the local area flag football competition. He was able to fill every key volunteer position with a student-athlete or a Concordia coach.  The event was a success for all and just shows how the partnership has crossed over into being more about creating relationships with the athletes.

Special Olympics Texas athlete Meagan Flynn gave a speech as well as Student Athletic Advisory Committee President Dalaine Whitlock that talked about the importance of the partnership.  One of the awards at the banquet was given to the Athletic Department for their volunteer efforts with Special Olympics Texas during the flag football competition.
