Sunday morning volunteer shifts are not always the most appealing, but that didn’t stop many people this Sunday, including this group of college students.

According to Sydney Carroll, a junior defender for the St. Edward’s Women’s Soccer team, a big goal for the team is getting out into the community and getting involved.

“There was an ad for this and our coach forwarded it on, so we thought it would be great to get a group of girls out,” Sydney said.

On Friday, the team sent out a group of eight girls and then at least 20 on Sunday.

Before this weekend, the team had never have helped with SOTX events, but they are looking forward to doing more in the future.

“It was awesome,” Sydney said. “Everyone is super encouraging and positive. It was really fun and we really liked it.”

After getting a taste of one of these volunteer experiences, Sydney said she would tell other potential first-timers to definitely come out and be sure to come with an open-mind.

“We really didn't know what to expect and obviously as you can tell, everyone is super happy and had a great time,” Sydney said.
