Officer Joe Delgado

Joe Delgado has been an Austin Police Department officer for almost 23 years and has volunteered with SOTX for about 7 years, when he became work partners with John O’Donnell.
Delgado said that his favorite part of being at a Special Olympics Texas competition is the look on the athlete’s faces. “They get into it, and I love the ambience that’s here. Everyone that shows up here to cheer for them, that’s just super nice.”
He says that law enforcement officers who aren’t sure whether to get involved with SOTX should try it at least once. “If you try it once, you’re not going to regret it. If they’re able to, they should. I love being here.”
