Get Involved! And don't forget—ask your employer if they match your volunteer hours.

Special Olympics Texas would not exist today and could not have been created without the time, energy, and dedication of thousands of volunteers.

More than 40,000 volunteers dedicate their time to help children and adults with intellectual disabilities achieve their dreams.

Our volunteers include students, senior citizens, business groups, professional individuals, civic organizations, families, amateur and professional athletes, and coaches to name a few.

There is no experience required; however, you must be at least 15 years of age, unless accompanied by an adult. Volunteers participate in an orientation prior to working with our athletes.

How do I register to volunteer? You have two options.

Option 1: Become a Class A Volunteer (includes Games Management Team volunteer)

These volunteers have positions of responsibility that can include a longer-term commitment and must receive certification. Class A volunteers are usually already connected to a specific team or delegation.

Volunteers must complete all forms on the next page in order to receive Certification.  The following are examples of Class A Volunteers where certification is needed:

  • Coach
  • Chaperone
  • Driver
  • Trainer
  • Games Management Team (formerly Key Volunteer)
  • Medical
  • Unified Sports® Partner

Option 2: Class B Volunteer (also known as 'day of' volunteer)

Class B Volunteers assist with an event or competition. This is the option if you are not already connected to a specific team or delegation and are just looking to get started.

Class B Volunteers, sign up for all volunteer alerts at our volunteer opportunities on WhoCanBeThere

Please check with your area office about their specific registration process and for their upcoming events.
