Volunteering at Summer Games

So you want to learn about volunteering at the 2008 Special Olympics Texas Summer Games?

YEAH!!

The athletes and staff of Special Olympics Texas would like to thank you for your interest in volunteering to help make this year's Summer Games a very special event.  Around 2,700 athletes, plus thousands of coaches and family members have been preparing for this competition.  To compete at the state level, athletes must be at least 12 years old.  Their competition is as intense and emotional for them as it is for every other athlete.  To help you prepare for this exciting event we ask that you please review the following information.  We hope you have a wonderful experience!  Please remember that without the help of volunteers like you, Special Olympics would only be a dream.

Summer Games Volunteer Schedule

The entire Summer Games volunteer schedule consists of over 85 individual shifts.  For your convenience, you can look for a volunteer shift two ways: by the full volunteer schedule or by the individual events (see the links on the left side of this page).  The volunteer schedule is comprised of volunteer shifts, and each shift listed has five pieces of information:

1. Date: The day you would be volunteering (Example: Friday, May 23)
2. Venue: The location where you would be volunteering (Example: UTA Maverick Stadium)
3. Opportunities: The choices of volunteer assignment (Example: Track or Souvenirs)
4. Shift Times: The times you would be volunteering (Example: 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)
5. Shift Name: Individual ID for a particular shift (Example: Track 1)
