Torch Runners Wanted in Laredo
Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) officers are getting ready for a busy year of fundraising in Laredo. They’re looking for more than a few good men, and women, to help bring in the dollars for local Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) athletes.
If you’re interested, be sure to stake out at the press conference at 10:00 a.m. on February 15 at the Webb County Courthouse, located at 1000 Houston, in Laredo. The LETR will be rounding up area law enforcement officers, agents, troopers, deputies and others to join the movement and raise money for SOTX – Laredo area. If you can’t make the press conference, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to get involved. Upcoming fundraisers include Cops on Top, Tip-A-Cop, Fire Truck Pull and a 5K Run/Walk, just to name a few.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics’ largest grassroots fund-raiser and public awareness vehicle. At its most basic level, the Torch Run is an actual running event where officers and athletes run the Special Olympics “Flame of Hope” to the Opening Ceremonies of local competitions, or State, Provincial or World Summer or Winter Games. At its more extensive, the Torch Run program encompasses a variety of fundraising vehicles such as t-shirt or merchandise sales, donations for runners in the Torch Run, corporate donations, and special events.
