Take the Plunge in North Richland Hills
Be brrrave
and sign up for Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) – Greater Fort Worth area’s frostiest
fundraiser of the year on January 28. SOTX is calling on everyone cool enough to plunge for proceeds at
the annual Polar Plunge - a chilly and entertaining event where the brave raise
pledges by jumping into frrreezing
cold water.
Register to take the plunge,
individually or with a team, at www.specialolympicstexas.org (click on the
Polar Plunge icon). There will be awards
for Individual Raising the Most Money, Team Raising the Most Money and Best
Costume – so dress to impress!
Registration for the Polar Plunge begins at 8:30 a.m. and the first plunge is
at 10:00 a.m. at the NRH2O Family Water Park in North Richland Hills.
The cost to plunge is $50 for adults and $25 for children under 18 years
old. All registered plungers will get a commemorative
t-shirt, beach towel, knit cap or one of the many other available incentives,
based on their plunge level.
Proceeds support more than 4,200
athletes in the Greater Fort Worth area.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special
Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. In
Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one
of the largest in the nation. In the last decade, Torch Run has
contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law
enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX. The support provided
by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local
communities, which involve close to 40,000 athletes with intellectual
disabilities throughout the state.
