Take the Plunge in El Paso
Special
Olympics Texas (SOTX) – Greater El Paso area challenges you to sign up for its
frostiest fundraiser of the year on January
14. SOTX is calling on everyone cool enough to plunge for proceeds at
the annual Polar Plunge - a chilly and entertaining event where the brave raise
pledges by jumping into freezing cold water.
Registration
for the Polar Plunge begins at 8:00 a.m. and the first plunge is at 8:30 a.m. at
the Wyndham Hotel El Paso Airport. The cost to plunge is $50 for adults and $25
for children under 18 years old. All
registered plungers will get a commemorative t-shirt, beach towel, knit cap or
one of the many other available incentives, based on their plunge level. Proceeds support more than 1,500 athletes in
the Greater El Paso area.

About
the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The
Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser
and public awareness vehicle. In Texas,
the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the
largest in the nation. In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over
$11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel
fundraising on behalf of SOTX. The support provided by this dedicated
group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve
close to 40,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
