Ready, Set, Pull for SOTX!

Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) – Central Texas Area and the Law Enforcement Torch Run want you to put your strength and stamina to the test at the Fire Truck Pull, hosted by Austin Firefighters, Austin Police Department and Travis County Sheriff’s Office, on November 12.  Teams of 12 people will put their biceps and triceps to the test and work together to pull an actual 55,000 pound fire truck for up to 50 feet!

The Fire Truck Pull is open to the public.  It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Kreig Softball Complex, located at 517 South Pleasant Valley Drive in Austin.  The entry fee is $300 per team and $25 for individual competitors.  Awards will be presented for the Fastest Team Pull and Top Fundraising Team.

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 36,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
