Polar Plunge in East Texas Saturday
Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) – East Texas area wants you for its frostiest fundraiser of the year. SOTX is calling on everyone courageous enough to take the chilly challenge and plunge for proceeds at the annual Polar Plunge, March 26.
Registration for the Polar Plunge begins at 9:30 a.m.; the first plunge is at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Best Western Crown Colony Inn & Suites, located at 3211 South 1st Street, in Lufkin. There will also be lunch and a post-plunge awards ceremony for best costume.
The cost to plunge is $50 for adults and $25 for children under 18 years old. Anyone who raises more than their required plunge fee will get a beach towel, duffle bag, knit cap or one of the many other available incentives!

About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation. In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX. The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve close to 40,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
