Keepin' Up with Houston & Beaumont

Flag Football Demo
Coaches, athletes and families attended the Flag Football demonstration on October 8 at Collins Park.  Thanks to all the athletes, families and friends who came out and supported our scrimmage.

Greater Beaumont Area Swim Meet
The Beaumont area hosted its area swim meet at the new Janice Brassard Natatorium.  Athletes from the Dad’s Club Mavericks, Lake Houston Hurricanes, Special Angels Woodlands and Golden Triangle Champs participated in the day-long competition.  Thank you to the Knights of Columbus, led by Tommy Wright and supported by Robert McLeadon, for securing all the lunch donations and preparing the day’s meal.  We are also grateful for the support of the Knights from the Archdiocese of Beaumont.  We also thank Vidor City Manager Ricky Jorgenson for once again serving as Master of Ceremonies for Opening Ceremonies.  Finally, thank you to the Beaumont I.S.D. Swimmers team.  Thank you for the time, volunteerism and enthusiasm each of you showed the athletes and their families.

Special Olympics Texas Volunteer Registration Has Gone Green!
The Greater Houston and Beaumont areas have gone green.  To volunteer, simply check the online calendar for upcoming events near you and click on the volunteer link to register yourself, your family and all your friends.  Once you register, you’ll receive an email confirming that you’ve signed up. You’ll also get a reminder email two days before your event.

If for any reason the event changes, gets canceled or is delayed by weather, you receive notification immediately.  Our new  ”green system” will help us stay in touch with our event volunteers and help us stay connected to them in the future.  Join us in the movement to go green!
