Houston Athletes Head to NIT
Golf Competition is September 22-25 in Florida
Five Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) athletes from the Greater Houston area will represent Texas at the 12th Annual Special Olympics National Invitational Tournament (NIT), September 22-25 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The NIT is a test of skill designed to give Special Olympics golfers from North America a chance to compete in a tournament setting.
Elizabeth Crook and Alex Crook will compete in Alternate Shot Team Golf (Level 2), Marcus Gary and Bill Crook will compete in Unified 18-Hole Golf (Level 3) and Kevin Harrell will compete in Individual 9-Hole Golf (Level 4).
The invitational will take place at the PGA Golf Club. An Opening Ceremony is set for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the PGA Hall of Fame/Museum. Round 1 of competition begins on Friday, followed by Round 2 on Saturday and Round 3 on Sunday. There will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on all three days.
