Special Olympics Texas Future Stars Showcase Skills
Prepare to be inspired as Special Olympics Texas – Laredo area athletes showcase their ability during Future Stars Sports Day - an opportunity for SOTX's 'littlest' athletes to demonstrate their motor skills in front of a cheering crowd! The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 17 at the United ISD Student Activity Center, located at 5208 Santa Claudia. More than 175 Young Athletes from the United I.S.D. will participate and the public is invited to come out and support. SOTX's Young Athletes Program is for children, aged two to seven, with intellectual disabilities. The Young Athletes program (YA) is a sports play program designed to introduce children to the world of sports prior to Special Olympics eligibility at age eight. The program utilizes physical activities to develop fundamental motor tracking and eye-hand coordination play. During the Future Stars Sports Day, students demonstrate the skills they have learned for family and friends.
