Midland Lights its Torch for Special Olympics Texas
Light the way for Special Olympics Texas! SOTX – Permian Basin/Big Bend area is getting fired up for its 2010 Torch Run Kickoff. The kickoff is a prelude to the 2010 Summer Games in Arlington, May 27-30. The Permian Basin/Big Bend Torch Run is set for Wednesday, May 26. The runners will meet at 8:00 a.m. for a press conference in front of the Midland Police Department, located at 601 North Loraine. At 8:30 a.m., they'll run down I-20 to I-30, which will take them to Arlington. From Midland, 18 torch run officers from several area agencies will run to Arlington for the Summer Games, which will be held on the University of Texas at Arlington campus. Participating agencies are Odessa and Midland Police Departments, Midland Fire Department, Ector County Sheriff's Office, Ector County District Attorney's Office, Midland FBI and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in Fort Stockton.
