Paris Educator Appointed Secretary of Board
For Immediate Release: January 2, 2009 Cindy McDowell of Paris has been appointed to serve a one-year term as Secretary of the Special Olympics Texas Board of Directors. Cindy McDowell is no stranger to SOTX; she has been a key volunteer and intricately involved in many different aspects of the organization. She helped coordinate Area Games when they were held in Paris, was instrumental in the development of the Lamar County SSA - Special Olympics bowling team, and is currently working to coordinate the Young Athletes™ program for Lamar County SSA. With more than 20 years of public education experience, McDowell's focus is special education. Among her many responsibilities within North Lamar ISD, she is a trained Autism Spectrum Specialist, she coordinates the Life Skills curriculum for MR classrooms, and assists with developing Behavior Intervention Plans for students.
