Run and Support SOTX at JC5K

The Joey Cushman 5K will be held November 14, 2009

For Immediate Release: November 5, 2009

FORT WORTH – Runners and walkers are lacing up to support Special Olympics Texas at the Joey Cushman 5K on November 14 at River Legacy Park, located at 701 NW Green Oaks in Arlington.  The one mile Fun Run begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the timed 5K at 9:00 a.m.

Pre-register by November 6 for $20; registration after November 6 is $25.  If you have friends, co-workers or family members that want to join, there is a group rate for 10 or more people for $15 per person.  Register at www.firstgiving.com/sotx click on 'Get Started'.  If you need further information, please contact the area office at 214.943.9981.

In case of inclement weather, the event will not be rescheduled and all funds will go to support SOTX athletes.

The run is named for Joey Cushman, an Arlington Police Officer who was killed in a training exercise on June 7, 2001. The Arlington Police Department has chosen to honor his memory and continue his legacy of service to the Special Olympics Texas athletes. Our hope is to keep his smile visible and show his family that his spirit lives on in our hearts.
